    Windows Photo Viewer - edit options?

    Hi. Can anyone tell me how to remove some of the options that appear in the 'open with' drop-down box in Windows Photo Viewer: I have searched the registry in vain.. Not sure else where to look. Thanks!

    Thanks! I had been looking for specific Windows Photo Viewer keys..

    However, I still can't seem to get rid of the options within WPV to open the jpg in Microsoft Office Picture Manager or Windows Media Center. Does that need a different tweak?

    The registry entry now looks like this (and options like MS Word & Google Chrome no longer appear in WPV):

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.jpg\OpenWithList]
    "MRUList"="bghi"
    "b"="mspaint.exe"
    "g"="PhotoViewer.dll"
    "h"="DXTBmp.exe"
    "i"="Photoshp.exe"

    I don't use MS office.

    What is "h"="DXTBmp.exe" ? According to tinterweb, it is something to do with a flight simulator?

    You could try nir sofer's little portable programs such as open with view nir sofer

    Yes, DXTBmp.exe is a great programme for working with all kinds of graphics files (especially dds), editing alpha channels, mips and so on. I've used it for 20 years now (and yes, I use it for flight simulator terrain files mostly!)
