iTunes version needed for Windows 7 ?

Downloading music from the iTunes Store used to work a year ago, but not now. The other day I was able to search & add songs to my Wish List but could not download them. Clicking on "Buy" did nothing.

I figured maybe iTunes needs updating so I did the Check for Updates & got vers. 12.10.6.2. But that made things worse as now I cannot add to my Wish List or even view it. I keep getting stuck in a loop. I enter my ID and password, get a message “Accessing iTunes Store“, but then comes back to “Sign in to view your Wish List” again.

The only thing I can think of that's changed is all the Windows 7 updates over the last year or so.

If I search for the latest iTunes vers everything takes me to a Microsoft website which has the latest iTunes for Windows 10. This make me wonder if the update I got from Apple is for Windows 10 & therefore causing a problem on my Win7 PC.

Is there a recommended iTunes for 64 bit Windows 7?

Clicking in vers 12.9 takes me to the Microsoft Store. This seems to be where all roads lead.
    iTunes - Apple

If you click on system requirements it says Windows 7 or later.

But if you proceed to click on "Get it from Microsoft" & get another screen & click on system requirements & it says Windows 10.

Previously I looked at earlier versions such as 12.4.3, but it has a warning.
"Only use this installer if you were directed to this page by the below alert message from iTunes 12.2 or later. Using this installer on an incorrect system may prevent your system from getting the correct iTunes installer in the future."

Wish I knew what I had before I updated.

Maybe I already have that Win10 vers & maybe it's causing problems. I'll have to find someone with a MS account & have them at least start downloading that Win10 version in order to get a version number.

Did not reinstall iTunes yet thinking since neither the 2018 version nor the updated version worked, the problem lies somewhere other than iTunes. I ran the iTunes network diagnostics & it said “Secure link to iTunes Store failed”.

FWIW the firewall says iTunes is enabled, but I disabled the firewall anyway & it made no difference.

I Googled & tried several suggestion, but nothing helped. So far I ran iTunes as Administrator, opened in Safe Mode, ran netsh int reset. ran SFC /scannow.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I've called Apple support twice & have been on the phone with them about 2 hours with no definite solution. I was at the point to reinstall iTunes & that is what they ended up suggesting.

I got it to work - sort of. Uninstalled the old iTunes & downloaded & installed the newest version. Turns out this is what I already had. Still can't access the Wishlist but can download a song directly without adding it to the Wishlist. Had to enter PayPal code into iTunes.

Not sure if it's worth calling Apple again since I can download songs. But it would be nice to have the program work correctly
