As of 15th Sunday March 2009, I have reverted back to Vista x64; not having my Asus Supremfx x-fi cards creative audio console was one big thing to go without as W7 would not recognize it.

But, not having the proper use of opening and saving SW files is just too much. As I must have Solidworks available at all times.

I had not used the Solidworks in-depth for sometime since January when I first installed it I opened the application to see if the visual/graphics and sketched out some basic stuff but never tryed saving or opening from the application until recently when I discovered the issue.

Anyways, I do miss W7 already...there seems to be a marked difference in the performance I was getting at the exact same bios settings in W7 compared to now in Vista.

Especially noticable in simulation & rendering

I am having the same problem with 08. Interestingly enough 05 works with no problems.

Im also sick of Solidworks "forced upgrade" business ethics! After been on service for the last few years and essentially paying them subscription to work as bug finders for them, we have decided to stick with 2008 from now on. Maybe 1% of all our problems have been genuine issue they help with, the rest are Bugs OR "we need training" = $$$) so the subscription has very little value other than Solidworks upgrades. Its a gread business model, But not a company I have any loyalty towards, the second something else comes along worth swapping to I will be!
There have been some cool feature upgrades over the years, but to be honest we could get by just fine with 2003 or older, so why bother forking out $$$$ every year?
Anyway thats enough ranting from me, My work around has been to dual boot Windows vista & 7.
The Vista boot is almost 100% for 2008 Solidworks usage now. I also use SW 2010 on Win7 at times, almost purely for FEA work tho, (it is much better for FEA) due to the non backwards compatible issue solidworks bullshit about not been able to change.
