    Software-Installation: Display software-componets before install

    Hallo,

I work with Windows-7 and i have the following question:

When i want to install software, is it possible, to get a display of all the components, that are installed during that session? (Before the actual software is installed, of course)

In the past i installed some software, and i found that some components are installed, overwriting some old components, mostly windows-7 components
    Mostly that are .DLL files

In some cases, after installation, some other programs , are not working fine, and i have to re-install Windows-7 again.

    Thanks

You can run software during install which will record all changes 7 Tools to Monitor Software Installs and then Uninstall Removing the Leftovers • Raymond.CC

You cant simply see what changes software will make it depends on how its installed ie exe file or msi file.

    Dear juser: Samuria

I see and understand what you mean

But the problem is that the damage already could has taken place
Because some old modules are overwritten.

Full OS images are the safest way to recover from such unwanted aftereffects of software installs **. There is one stretch: Revo Uninstaller, for sure the Pro version, has a feature of monitoring from start to finish an install. Now, what I do not know: Does Revo keep a copy of the original modules or drivers for a while? I have no idea. ** System Restore Points do a great job - when they work, sometimes it's a roll of the dice.

I followed a link on that page. Might this be closer to what he is looking for?

Comparing is fine and good as far as comparing goes. What OP probably wants and needs is how to make sure installs save original files and drivers before such is replaced by said installs in some pot o' gold folder - at least for a while.

I remembered, that in past, there was a utility-program, with the following possibilities:

That utility-program was installed and when it run, it followed new installing software, and when the new installed program did not worked, or had to be removed completely, there was a so called "Roll Back"-Feature, and that program removed all new installed components and restored any previous overwritten components

I only do not know what program it was.
