I consider registry cleaners to be a gimmick and nothing more. There is no proven advantage to them and they can hurt your system. That ram cleaner caused me to raise my eyebrows because ram is temporary storage. When the computer is rebooted or powered off everything in ram is cleared. Googling it and finding such a program it looks like it is more of a system optimizer so it is really incorrectly labeled. Personally I am on the fence about those. I have used one but didn't noticed a difference. On the other hand I know how to optimize windows manually. Junk cleaners can be important but those can also be done manually. I really wouldn't pay for either programs personally.

My opinion stands on what happened. If the program was damaged It might have downloaded a fresh copy to fix itself. Also if you have 2 AVS's installed, pick one and remove the other. Having two active AVS programs installed is bad because they can interfere with each other.

I am sure you have reason to say that, and must admit the others I have tried don't speed up my machine much,
but jet clean makes it fly. you might want to investigate why.

UP DATE I just deleted AVAST, tried bit DEFENDER and then trashed (Jet Clean) too, it had way to much "you got another problem and we're not gonna let you fix it till you enter your pass word again" which is great security trick,,,but life is too short. and it kept telling me my week trial was up after 1 hours use plus it was advertised as free,
out of respect for the forum I will say nothing else.

Jet clean is back in and doing its magic again. I
turned on gates defender. do any of you folks think I can get by safely this way or could one of you suggest a actually Free AV that ....that when you click the "Make an exception to this program being evil and let it run",,,,,,, WORKS,,,,cause Avast and BIT defender lets me use jetclean """ONCE"" then shuts it down again. and thanks very much folks.

PS CC cleaner is a submarine to go down and did little to speed things up, as townsbg suggested , and has some real dangerous
options you might click. Dorthy Go Back

Again that is likely the junk cleaner. That does make a difference. Why not do like I suggest. You can here for our advise right?

because I detest the culture of waiting all day for the thing to load townsbg,

    Update.
    imagine my surprise
In the 8 years I have use jet clean, flawlessly with out a hick up-
I see now, I have never even used the registry Cleaner function in it, Never! that function is down in its sub-tools and options, and i have never seen it till last night.
i ran it this morning, with out resgestry cleaner as always and it said it removed 450 mb's of junk, then as always my 7 worked like a sling shot fast.
Jet Clean must have changed its working guts with this new version to something that piss's off antivirals.
I will write them and ask, because this will put them out of business. maybe they want the tax write off.
I would like to get an old JET C version that worked so well, but most of the sites that give you an old version
spike it with a bug. Cause if I can't speed this machine up, like it works on jet clean, I may chuck it out or almost not use it often.
I would move to mac but Sadly JOBS community is such a cult of proud nose's, and its just a fact, mac is the most hacked rig in the world.

    townsbg question
-can a person go into a program files and delete its ability to reach back to its site, or be called on to up date it self.
I did this once, by shutting off updates in a program, now everybody pays 29.95 for it, and there's no free trial any more, but I have never been asked to pay a thing, also note, I did not hack this program or am i asking for advice to hack any program I just used its own gears to block it with its own clicks and options, I would like to block telemetry on jet clean if it allows for that.
mean while my action center says I needs a antiviral, i will try to find a light one that lets you make exceptions to jet clean which is not as I use it a registry cleaner, tho there's one in there.
townsbg, you have been a perfect gentleman about assisting me here, trust me, I am perfectly thankful as well.

UPDATE found this at "should I delete it"

A pure registry cleaner doesn't actually remove data, only what it thinks are unneeded entries in the registry. jet clean seems to have additional utilities that delete temporary crap and that does help. So if you don't want to hear my opinion that I think that the registry cleaner will do nothing for your computer then why am I even posting? You confirmed that for 8 years the registry cleaning portion has been disabled. That proves my point. But if you are going to argue with me on it then I am out. I don't have anything else to add and you don't seem to care to do anything other than argue. You clearly are stuck on using I seems to me to be a fishy program.

As for blocking it from the internet that's easy to do using windows firewall. Use the Windows 7 Firewall to Block a Program From Internet Access

WOW, slow down, no one is arguing with you, I even stating before you must have good reasons for what you say,
and you of course do. but hyper vigilance lost you a good job in the movies remember, I even thanked you for helping me till it sounded like flirting. and patience has payed off, we learned something interesting, the dam thing is not even a registry cleaner. What jet clean does is optimize the whole computer, sort of like a factory reset, and it works wonders, without cleaning the registry, and using it 7-8 years with out a hitch till now is a wonder for a gates based machine. And to agree with you again, yes I am stuck on using jetclean, because I think it is toxic to the human mind to get over involved with gates or jobs. and this thing fixes almost every log jam I get in my machine.

So now please, with the guns put away, I think, and you may know more , it seems while hundreds of 1000's of folks
use this new version around the world, with out their AV stomping it to death ....my machine does,
and on your advice i will go check my fire wall........ which i think should be on already, hoping somewhere in that I find out why "Jet Clean Optimizer" is getting treated like the anti Christ.

For folks reading this thread, and wanting more control over your life, your holy space, Townsbg provided this link page that must be seen to be believed, for me,,,,,,tracking is a gate way drug to Rape and Theft, which often hides under a skin of ambiguity, this page shows how to control big time ""telemetry"". JET Clean came into my rig and without asking just removed a program, which should be impossible and is a big part of this thread, I strongly suggest everybody read it, and I hope some body has the brains to exploit it into a downloadable simple shell cover anyone can use.

Ok you seemed to be to be asking about blocking it from accessing the internet. Windows firewall is how. As for it updating itself, I have twice offered my opinion on what might have happened to cause the program to get updated and you didn't acknowledge that either time but instead still insist upon jetclean mysteriously updating itself without your permission. If you think about it that possibility makes sense but no you won't admit that. That is one reason why I said that you are ignoring me. The other reason is that you never acknowledged my opinion on using the registry cleaner. You'd have to admit that your arguing with me on most of my posts would seem to me that you don't care about my opinion - yours must be right. That's how it seems to me. You also haven't responded to snick's opinion either. If that's the case why did you come to us for help? However why don't we get an objective opinion from others here on what's going on? BTW it isn't impossible for a program to update itself. Some do without the option to turn the auto update off so yes that might have happened but I don't think that is the only possibility.

So you are a fan of the program - fine. I suppose that's understandable if it works for you and has for all 8 years until now. It still looks fishy to me but I'll admit that I know nothing about it so with that said I still don't have anything else to add and I appreciate the rep. Good luck.

It would be much safer to use Windows 7 built in disk cleanup program
Here is a copy of disk cleanup very low disk batch script I use.
    Title Disk-Cleanup VeryLowDicls
    start cleanmgr /verylowdisk & exit
Anikan has pointed out I did not reply to yours above, this was not do to a lack of affections and gratitude, but truly my distraction with this endlessly should not of happen subject, factually you have not been the only victim of my distractions, my prize blue "Snow Ball " flowers did not get a good hand watering and have wilted to a depressive state that will take a year to recover from.
I use disk clean up almost every day, on the days i do, jet clean still makes my rig run faster.
as well I have a Terra byte disk, so I defrage about 2/5 times a week too.

    Very truly yours J.

As it turns out my threat level for download/updates changes to my computer was turned to 0, which i only found thanks to your advice.
I have reset it to let nothing change my computer w/o my permission. I did not reset it to zero before so...... now i must wonder how it got reset.
As well fella, please don't sit by and count the seconds it takes for me to act on your advice, till you start doubting
my sincerity towards yours and snicks Character, and start slandering folks, the fact is, most folks in this world are to busy for this ill built machine. As well, please consider the person your talking to, they have experience's too,
and one of mine is, after get shoved around by some teenage punk on bleeping computer, he destroyed my word program and I had to install "Libre" which has been over built till its madness.
As of this point I think Jet Clean has been bought and rebuilt by some sociopath, and has become bugged, this is why I asked earlier, about taking just the bug out of jet clean with a AV, I have seen folks do this with kerperski and then used the program --debuged. I tried yet another AV and it kicked it out. I have written jet clean and asked what gives, but have no word back from them.
Now its beautiful day out side, and i am gonna go enjoy it, except the humming birds, who are territorial buzzing toxic males, who will buzz your face at 200 mph and then fly away to scare the crap out of you.
on new years day with a hangover this is awful. I have a tennis racket in the garage but am loath to put it by my book reading chair

    Second Thought
Townsbg, you seem to be struggling personally here with civil commentary and and huge UN-intuitive understanding of what its like to be the person having a couple issues at once on a gates 7. plus you have accused me of some how slimming /disrespecting you with some sort of lack of 'yes sir/no sir' jump at my words or you jim are a mean time waster. I have used many of your suggestions, at times showered you with thanx, the telemetry control you showed was "Breath taking power" to find out about, but to the pith of it, I am not your puppet, many of us have wrecked our machines taking advice on a forum from rigid know it alls, You Seem To be Seeking Something Else From People other then being a gates social worker, which is all and only what you are. for me, despite your wonderful understanding of this machine, your bed side manner is wholly lacking. and I would suggest you look at a situation that may now escape you life experience due to all your understanding of Win's. That being what its like on this, my end, to be wildly over whelmed by some body really screwing with my computer from out there in the criminal "Big Sleep" world of nut cases who will chain saw a person in half for grins.
As such till you put heart in your tool box, please don't don't try to help me again.

First off I apologize. I didn't mean to offend you. I wasn't asking you to bow down to me but I felt like you weren't even listening to me when I was trying to answer your question.I was trying to help you out as best I could without understanding what you where wanting to accomplish. So let's start over. I went back and re-read your first post and I still don't have a grasp on what you are wanting to do. Can you explain in more detail what you want? The only thing that I can grasp from your original post is that you want to know how the program was updated. I still stand by what I put. If your AVS got confused by it and damaged it jetclean would have to repare itself before you can use it again. Without knowing what the little window is that you said you got I can only speculate. Usually a program needing to repair itself just grabs a copy of the original installer which is stored in your windows folder and uses that to reinstall itself. Without being there I can only further speculate that either the program couldn't do that or wasn't programed to and just grabbed a copy by phoning home. Now does that theory make any sense to you? Does it sound plausible? I thought that you weren't listening to me because you didn't say anything about that and just went back to your theory that it mysteriously updated itself without asking you. BTW contrary to what you stated that can happen unless you block them from the internet. I don't have any other theories outside of yours nor can I see anything else that you are asking. If there is something else you are wanting to ask please do so more plainly.

Secondly I just wanted to say that while you might know what you are talking about I am used to dealing with people here and in my real life job that don't know what they are doing when it comes to computers and technology. In my paid job I deal with healthcare workers over the phone and most of them don't know how to do much more that turn on a computer and use their everyday programs and even then they can barely do that. They don't know how to troubleshoot but only call my employer for help and sometimes they get me. It's even more challenging here because I can't talk to you in person. I find it easier and faster to assume that someone needing my help doesn't know what they are talking about and that might result in the bedside manner of mine that you referred to. That might be the wrong mentality but I think it would be worse to assume that everyone here is a technology whiz only to find out after a few posts that they have no clue what they are doing.

Thirdly you post seems to indicate to me that you have two AVS programs installed. That is a bad idea and can easily result in conflicts which could very well result in programs getting damaged. That could explain what happend to jet clean. You can have secondary malware or spyware scanners installed at the same time but not full AVS's like Kapersky, Avast, Mcafee, Norton, etc. If that is you, pick one and remove the other.

Next what do you mean by this?

Finally I don't really do everything that you say that you do. I don't even defrag my hard drive because windows has that builtin. I don't even run my choice of junk cleaners all that regularly (except to clear my browser) and my computer runs just fine. However my computer was high end when it was built 10 years ago so it's still an above average computer and I have it fine tuned very well. Not that there is anything against that practice (except I would be hesitant to defrag constantly for fear of overusing the drive). FYI I just checked and having never actually run the builtin defragger on this install of windows it is sitting pretty at 0% fragmented having last run yesterday. I see that it is set to run weekly.

This is a batch script you copy and paste it into notepad then when you save it you change the suffix to .bat
You can also run the last line from the cmd (command prompt) by opening cmd and copy and paste it there.

To open CMD Click the Windows Start Button. In the search box type cmd. In the search results, Right-Click on cmd and select Run as administrator. This will open the Command Prompt window.
