What's the best cleaning program these days?

I used to use ccleaner, but it has become rather bad lately, plus you need to have ccenhancer installed for it to be useful. Are there any better programs for cleaning your computer?

Ccleaner has turned into nothing but bloat built upon mass delusion in marketing BS. I used to use it back in circa 2007 until about 2014 when I started to use just the older version which does the job. I also used and still use System Ninja. Both worked great. The old version of Ccleaner and System Ninja. System Ninja uses a rule set you can add to CCleaner found at Github, but it will make CCleaner's load time take a while. Better to just use System Ninja and call it a day if you ask me.

You really don't need to run such a program hardy at all unless you do three things:

    1) Are making a full hard drive clone or partition backup and want to reduce the clone size.

    2) Want to help get rid of all traces of a former program.

    3) General once in a while cleanup if your hard drive is low on space.

The temp files actually make things faster... But every once in a while it's good to clear out the very old bloat I guess... Especially if it poses an issue.

Leave Folder Config. Files unticked as is the default. If not it'll reset your folder settings. If you have Spotify installed it may wipe the encrypted downloads. At least that was my observation back then. I had to set a path exclusion for the AppData folder where Spotify stores the encrypted downloads... I think today System Ninja excludes the Spotify path by default.

Download Old Versions of CCleaner for Windows - OldVersion.com

Version 5.14.5493 from 2016 is all you need in my opinion.

This is why one should get in the habit to scan ALL downloads at VirusTotal. The general consensus is four hits and you toss. But it depends on what you have and your ability to interpret the posted Behaviors and Relations. Don't trust the community input, it's garbage. I mean, ~+22 positive votes from a single user?! What's the limit on upvotes per VirusTotal user account!? LOL To further add, are they working for said software company et al?
