an editing program stays in memory when I close it

I use acdsee and affinity and even when I close acdsee , it stays in memory when I close the program. when I press taskman it shows up in background processes. how can I block it from running in the background once its closed? sorry, I realize this is w7 forum but my issue is with an editing pc I have with w10. there are many smart people here who might know.
