W7 OS & Blue Screen Of Death Question

    Hello,

Have bee fighting a startup problem, but with everyone's help and suggestions, I can now get it to start. (new HP Pavillion Elite PC)

One question re startup under W7:

That "blue-screen-of-death" page that my PC formerly froze on, the one with the several F options on it, now flashes for perhaps 1/2 second or so on startup, but now does get thru it and actually starts.

Is the showing or flashing of this screen on starting up, even for such
    a short time, "normal" ?

    Thoughts on ?

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Bob Hi and welcome

BSOD's usually have a STOP message. If you think you are having them go to c:\windows\minidump. If you have had one chances are there is a file there with DMP as its extension

If it is there zip it and uploadd it to us using the attachment icon (shaped like a paperclip) in the reply form

    From OP:

    Hi,

I may be calling the screen by an incorrect name.

The screen that I was referring to comes up only during starting.
    It's blue.
Has about 6 or so F function keys on it as options.
The PC has been totally freezing up on this starting screen.
    The F keys do nothing.

The PC has never crashed or exhibited this screen, or anything like it once it has started and is running normally.

Perhaps what i am calling the blue screen of death really isn't what mopst folks would call it ?

    No C:Windows/minidump file.

    Thanks for help,
    Regards,
    Bob
