    Stardock Objectdock launch twice

    Hy

I had this problem under Vista HP 32bit, which was gone with a recent release of objectdock ... I never know why. Now I have this under Seven Beta x64.

When I put Objectdock on the system startup (like "startup" on the "all programs" menu) the software is launched twice by the system (So I have 2 docks, one over the other).
If I take a look to msconfig I can see too entry for the soft. But if I uncheck one, after the reboot the both are uncheck

I really don't understand why it make this. So if somebody as already seen this problem with a solution I would be gratefull

As far as I know, if you use the "Start with Windows option" in the software you should not need to add the shortcut to the start-up in the all programs group.

I find the program autoruns better than MSconfig for controlling start-up items.

This lists all items started with windows and allows better control over options, it may look a little complicated at first but full instructions are available :).
    Download from here ...

I used the option "start with windows startup" of the software in first instance. But all what it does is to put a shortcut in the start menu.

    I'll try "Autoruns for windows"

    Hi LePoilu,

The only thing that I can think that may be causing a problem is that the start-up folder in the start menu is actually made up of two locations, one for all users and one for the current users

If you right click on the folder you should see entries for "Open" and "Explore", which relate to the current user and "Open All users" and "Explore All Users" which relate to the All Users area.

As there have been some changes in Windows 7 to the way this is implemented you may want to check if you have an entry being created in both areas

You right about this. But this thing is exactelly the same as under Vista.

BTW I allways move all the "all programs" entries into one and only location. So I've allready moved every link under "my user" area to the general folder which is under the Windows folder.

Maybe am I wrong and should I use the "all user" folder, but each time you install a software in 50% this one put a link into the windows area of the "start menu"

    Hi LePoilu

Yes I always move all mine to this one ...

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\...

as it then appears for any user on the system.

If you only have the one entry for the Objectdock here and none under the user\roaming branch the only other start location would be in the registry which you should be able to locate using autoruns

    So, we do the same

I just take a look to my home computer (thanks to Live Mesh remote desktop )
And I confirme that the only "startup option" is there!

    And see that:

    (capture from "autoruns")

I really do not understand why the entries are in double. And you can be sure that if I let it like on the picture (1 check, 1 uncheck), after the next reboot no one will start and both will be unchecked.

    Hi,

How much customisation have you done to the dock?

I'm just wondering if it may be worth un-installing with something like Revo un-installer set to clean all entries and then trying a re-install. Just in case there is something in the registry.

Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download

The other thing is that I don't think that Object dock is supported on 64bit OS's - I know it works, but it is possible that some glitch between Windows 7 x64 and Objectdock may be the issue, although I have not heard of anyone else with this issue

I don't think the probleme is only for objectdock. As you can see on my screenshoot it concern a serious samurize client too (but this one doesn't launch twice on windows startup).
And as I said, I had the same issue under Vista x86.

I can try a re-install of objectdock with registry cleanup, but I think that it's not the source of my problem.

    Hi

It's certainly a strange one - you could try to right click on the one entry in Autoruns and see if you can delete the one entry only without the both disappearing after re-boot
