    iTunes and Media Keys

Hey all, a very persistent and irritating problem.

With my old install of W7 ult (a few weeks ago) the media keys from my keyboard to iTunes worked just fine, and I could hit the keys to start/stop/change song whether or not iTunes was in focus. With the new install, they didn't work, and I tried 2 different work arounds. Now, they both have stopped working and it is driving me crazy...

Does anyone know how to get the media keys on a keyboard to work with iTunes when it is NOT is focus (works fine when it is).

Hmm... well my initial guess of course is "drivers"... but I'm also curious about the workarounds you've already tried?

    Cheers,

There is a MMKEYS.DLL file that seems to work pretty well. You download that and put it in the Roaming plug ins folder.

There was a another program I used before I got that, don't remember what it was.

So is the .dll what's allowing it to work when focused, but that's all?

Well.... Earlier today it was working when it was NOT focused.

Now, (after turning it back on) it is NOT working unless it is focused. I am confused.

I use SetPoint, the software that came with my Dinovo Mini keyboard. It works very reliably...

    Today it works unfocused again.

    This is just weird.

Very weird indeed. I guess you could boot in Safe Mode and enable services one by one to see if something is interfering?
