Windows 7 won't open Foxit pdf files automatically

Having trouble with W7 opening up pdf files with Foxit.
I have set the proper association for pdf files, have no other pdf reader installed, yet everytime I click on a pdf file I get the "Windows cannot find the program ......blah blah blah."
Then I can click browse for program, and foxit reader is listed, then clicking launches it. I do check the "remember this choice for files of this type" but it never does.
    Anyone have any ideas why?

I have been using Foxit successfully for about 2 weeks.

I just checked my "default" and don't even see PDF listed as an extension!!

But when I find a PDF on the web, I can open it with Foxit.

When I look in "set default programs", Foxit is not listed.

    Wish I had more insight.

Try using another PDF reader, like the free PDF XChange. If the problem continues, we know we have a problem. If not, then we know the problem's with Foxit.

    Jonathan:

I'm not particularly excited about Foxit and would consider PDF Xchange.

Any issues with the free version--nag screens, limitations, pop ups, etc?

I often need to copy and paste from a PDF. Is this easily done and well thought out on PDF Xchange?

Nope. PDF X-Change is a good PDF reader IMO. I have not needed to make PDFs, however, so my experience ends with reading.
