    Cant start Windows Live Mail/Messenger

I cant get either of these programs to start at startup, so that they are open when my computer starts. I've moved a shortcut into the 'startup' folder in APPDATA,...also tried putting a shortcut in the startup folder in the start menu...tried adding it to startup via "Startup Guard'...clicked the boxes in the program that mention starting up at startup. What am I doing wrong!??

    Thanks for any info:)

Have you installed the component called the 'Windows Live Sign in Assistant'?

Hi, I dont believe I have that. I just got my computer, and the windows live stuff was already installed.

Oh no, I do have it, just checked. Hmm, now what? :)

I'm using Firefox...but that shouldnt effect my startup programs.

Just set Windows Messenger to sign you in at Windows Logon... :)

The sign in assistant will remember your messenger sign in credentials...

Ok, that all sounds good. I have checked that box in messenger...but still nothing.
Is it a problem that I have auto log on on my pc? I do not log into windows when my pc starts, I set it up to auto log on. I definitely dont want to change that.

Well I'm doing everything right. But I figured it out-it's the infamous User Account Control. Of course.
If I disable it, my programs open up at startup no problem. With it on(on the 'lowest' setting) they dont open.
    Very annoying. Whatever.

    Thanks though Qdos for helping:)
