Sorry, mate. i wasnt referring to your problem. I was taking the opportunity to air my views about the all too prevalent, misinformed views i have read about Nero.
Power Calibration Error means several things;
Incompatible CD/DVD media (try using a different CD/DVD media)
Too high speed setting (try setting the burning speed at half of the burner's burn speed capacity)
Dusty CD/DVD lens (try giving it a good blow or better yet, get a CD/DVD lens cleaner, costs like a dollar :))
Old Firmware (try to get the latest firmware off the manufacturer of your CD/DVD)
If this is a PC, try changing the power cables running to your CD/DVD drive.
You might want to change the IDE/SATA cable being used for the CD/DVD drive as well.
Worse case scenario - Failing CD/DVD Drive
Cheers
I agree two of the largest problems are media and firmware. The firmware updates the media the drive can use, so maybe it is really only one. Check the site below for your media to see if you are using the good stuff. You can also see the quality rating of other media in case you want to change. Media type is in the log mentioned below.

It seems some drives have more problems with the Calibration error than others, like Pioneer, if I remember correctly.
Another site that might help is a forum for Nero stuff. Look in the forums, Nero discussion. They will probably ask for a Nero burn log and I haven't check where in W7 it is stored, but look for NeroHistory.log. Post just the last section (last burn attempt) which contains all the info about your last burn showing the error, but don't post the serial number. There are many threads of this error.
Log starts with:
Windows Vista 6.0 <-- W7 in your case.
IA32
WinAspi: -
and ends with:
Registry Keys:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon
====== *** Nero Burning ROM, History File *** ======
AfterDawn.com
Also, Google for the error.
Zzz.. Starting using Nero 8 lite.
It works all fine. :)
the latest version of nero is 9.4.13.2
this does NOT work with build 7227 sp1 of windows 7
nero confirm this and say they'll be issuing a working version when microsoft finalizes win7. Nero have not yet confimed to me that they'll be updating my version without cost....
