    Acrobat Pro error

I bought a new Gateway last summer with Vista 64 installed - it came with a free Win 7 64 upgrade.

I ran the upgrade glitch free I thought... except now when I attempt to open a PDF in IE 8 & Chrome I get this error:

"Cannot use Adobe Reader to view PDF in your web browser. Reader will no exit. Please exit your browser and try again."

I click try again... the error disappears and the PDF usually opens.

I reinstalled CS3 suite again... same deal.

Anyone have some advice - thanks...

    Hi Cmsintent Welcome to SF,

This error can occur when the folder that contains Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, or one of it parent or sub-directories has been renamed or moved, or Adobe Reader or Acrobat has otherwise become confused which exact application to use as helper application within the browser.

There is a KB for this issue in Adobe website which you might look in

Error: "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a web browser..." when you view a PDF file in a browser

    Hope that helps

Thanks for the quick response... appreciate that!!

    I have more info...

Prior to the Win 7 upgrade:

I have CS3 installed on the machine which has Acrobat Pro 8.0

I also downloaded from the Adobe site Acrobat Reader 9... running under Vista I had no issues.

When I did the Win 7 upgrade (I did not run Custom... just upgrade) ... this is when the issue started.

Sorry for the elementary questions but I am an amatuer when it comes to this!!

    Thanks
