not necessarily - notice he only posted about having VBox issues in the 2 VBox threads, not in other forums like General and even drivers, where they could quasi-fit....
I'm gonna install 7000 on a Q VM, anyone confirmed that this works?
ok the details are:
tryin to install w7 (the latest 7000 ) into vb 2.1.0 as vista x86 ultimate as platform
install starts ok loads fast until it says starting windows...
after that it says: "00:00:34.430 pgmr3PhysGrowRange: out of memory. pause until the user resumes execution.
00:00:34.430 Changing the VM state from 'RUNNING' to 'SUSPENDED'.
00:00:34.499 Console: VM runtime error: fatal=false, errorID=HostMemoryLow message="Unable to allocate and lock memory. The virtual machine will be paused. Please close applications to free up memory or close the VM"
i have 6 GB of memory on my system so that shouldnt be a problem...
is there any way to ignore that and get w7 to install?
i hope that i have supplied enough iformation to you now , so you wont have to drop from your chair...

That's weird- I got W7 to install in 20 minutes flat on VBox running under W7 build 6801 x64 - that is how I knew the ISO wasn't corrupted and then decide to take it to the real HD.
What options did you use when setting up the W7 Machine, in particular the device settings (SATA, USB, etc. are not enabled by default, I had to go in there and manually enable them before I started the Machine)....
well... i now have tried to install w7 both on vb 2.0.6 and 2.1.0 and theres the same problem on both...
it may be the problem with some memoryleak on vb as it has been documented on vb:s forum on 2.0.2 version...
after i downloaded this virtual pc 2007 from m$ website i could finally install w7 without any problems... u should try that too:)
I wold but VPC emulates much older hardware, whereas VBox support Hardware Virtualization - so that the Machine sees the same hardware as I have installed in terms of the CPU and RAM and motherboard.
works on vpc 2007 too ... hardware virtulization that is
Eh? Last time I tried it didn't ...
I'll have to go back and look at it - it was the main reason I dumped it. Hell, it was the *only* reason....
