7-Zip / .7z -- yay or nay ??
What would you guys compare 7-zip as, good, ok, bad etc etc.. compared to others such as winrar or winzip, or whatever..etc etc.... ??
Does it seem to compress better and smaller sizes etc.. plus more or less formats. What's your basic opinions on it.
As i of course notice the so called new 7z format type compressed folder but.. what else really and also how much you think that new format is going to catch on and with how many people you think and how fast ??

I think Winrar covers .7z anyways, making 7-zip fairly redundant.

7zip is what I use and have used for quite some time. I've been very happy with it. And it's completely free...unlike Winzip which is a trial that you are supposed to pay to use...same thing for winrar if I remember correctly.
I haven't seen a rar file since leaving warez sites several years back.

And there is a 64-bit version.

Yeah i use Winrar now mostly.. Also dont really use like warez type sites at all but i do make and come across a lot of .rar files alot tho still with certain things i use and do. even like cad files also and such for like mobile prgs etc etc..

Winrar isnt free whereas 7zip is. 7zip is the only program I use and I can do standard zip files.

I use both Winzip & 7-Zip, as Winzip was much faster when encrypting zips. But as I don't encrypt file much any more I often now use 7, and it is very good for looking inside compressed exe and iso files etc. Smaller file sizes using 7z too.
But I much prefer an Explorer style layout with folders visible, so still use Winzip.

7Zip ...

7Zip and winRAR when I have to.

7zip is by far the best. It's free, handles everything, and runs in 64 bit mode
