Anyone Using Revo Uninstaller ?

Thanks for the advice. I have used the manufacturer's removal programs and they have in general not been completely successful. Because of my inexperience with the OS I have to follow sometimes opposing advise or WAG. I'll look into the hidden files and maybe delete them manually. I know nothing shows up in the processes.
Thanks, they are hard to get rid of. Sophos had the nerve to create it's own administrative account, completely without my knowledge. This is getting out of hand IMHO.

Thanks again for contributing. Are you using Revo Pro? I have noticed no problems as of yet with deleting the full path and leftover items. What does that mean? I sure don't know.

Replacement for Revo Uninstaller on 64-bit Windows??

I've been using Revo for a couple of years now and think it's really effective. It can totally remove some very intransigent programs.
However, there are some programs it does not appear to be able to see. If you open programs and revo at the same time you will probably see some that are definitely installed but do not appear in the revo box.
I've no idea why this should be. Perhaps somebody else can provide an explanation?

ps I'm aware that the free version does not see x64 apps but it misses some x86 ones as well.

seems to me revo doesn't keep it's own database of installed programs, or do any kind of scan. so you'll only see what the msi-installer database reports being installed.

but this doesn't really matter as you can force-remove an app based on its name/path.

I bought the pro version of Revo for my Win 7 64 bit system and assumed it was seeing everything.

Well it sort-of is. Obviously it doesn't see non-installation stand alone programs (like Process Hacker for example), these need deleting anyway, though given a path Revo will look after that task too AND do its great remnant scan.

It also doesn't seem to see Windows DVD Maker for example. I don't know if this came with the Win7 Install (I've never used it) - I think it did. It is a 64bit program. I haven't been thorough but I can't find anything else Revo is not seeing.

The pro version is definitely much faster in getting the database and doing the scan after un-installation. I have NEVER seen it fail to uninstall anything.

Pro has some excellent other tools packed with it (Autorun Mgr)(though i still use Starter which I've used and loved for nigh on a decade - free too) and various Cleaners.

Revo is the one and only product I let access my Registry. As far as I am concerned it attacks the one issue that can cause Registry problems and all other so-called Registry cleaners are unnecessary at best and dangerous at worst.

Having said that Win7 looks after things so well that even Revo is probably overkill. I install and uninstall a lot of stuff and it is so utterly reliable that I appreciate this bit of overkill. I used Smarty Uninstaller for a while - and to be fair, it too seemed excellent.

Pro version here, running on Windows 7 64 bit used the free version first until switching to 64 bit then went to Pro use it for the uninstalling and Hunter mode not to much with the cleaners but there are lots of other features that are quite handy, like Malicious software removal tool, network tools and many others.
