I am consistently getting a 0x8007045D error when I try to copy, using Windows Explorer, a large file (1.3 G) from my HP Desktop to my Garmin Nuvi 350 through a USB 2.0 connector.
I can do it successfully from my wife's Gateway Windows 7 laptop and my son's Dell Vista laptop but not from my Windows 7 HP desktop. The file is not corrupted and the problem occurs no matter where the original file is (i.e. C:, USB memory stick, etc.).
Any ideas?
The error message says there was an i/o device error. Check in Device Manager all the USB ports and hub for a yellow '!' indicating a conflict or problem. Try a different USB port. I've found on my HP machines sometimes the USB ports in the back will be finicky. Sometimes if I unplug, then plug back in they start working.

I checked Device Manager but nothing is shown as being a problem there and have tried most of the USB ports front and back.
I, so far, have spent 3 hours with Microsoft techs on this and several email "Action Plans" to no avail. I uninstalled my anti-virus program along with most everything else (vis msconfig.exe).
There is something wrong but I don't know what it is.

These are not HP employees but customers. Since it's a business board you tend to get people who have been using HP machines for quite awhile suggesting solutions. Sometimes you get lucky and find info tough to get anywhere else. It's worth a shot. Only takes a couple of minutes to sign up to the board. They will accept hotmail email addresses. There's no need to worry about being anonymous.
edit: btw it's free. Just users suggesting answers like this board except it's HP specific.
In case anybody cares, here is how the situation was resolved.
It was determined my Microsoft that the Windows 7 32 bit computer that I have will not tranfer this large a file to a device using Fat32 format. So, if I wanted to use my computer to transfer the file, I would have to reformat the Garmin Nuvi 350 to NTFS. We did that only to find out that the Nuvi software will not read any of the data in NTFS directories.
The Nuvi 350 was then reformatted back to Fat32 and the data recopied to the unit. It will now function.
As to transferring the large file that produced the original error, I will have to use my wife's laptop computer (running Windows 7 64bit) in the future to transfer large files to my Garmin nuvi 350 GPS unit.
Such is the way it is.
