    hi,
can i ask whether there is any sofware to freeze the hard drive which does not require the PC to restart, meaning that we can temporarily stop the function to modify something we want, and allow it to function when we finish? It is quite inconvienient when we have to restart the computer
    Thanks :)
    Returnil! LoL

    Well Returnil works like this:
    .you download program
    .you turn returnil protection on
    .you install program to test
    .you restart the computer
.returnil puts it back to the point before you installed program

If you want some thing that allows you to test a program installation in realtime and erase the results without having to restart the pc, you will have to use something like sandboxie. With sandboxie, your system is not frozen, and the process goes like this:
    .you download program
.you install program in a sandbox(in a virtual segment of the disk)
.you test the program, then decide you don't like it, you just close out sandboxie and everything is back to normal.

Sandboxie has something against 64bit software for security reasons, so they don't have a version for 64bit and their 32bit version will not install on a 64bit OS.
