    Multitrack recorders???


    hi peoples... I'm a Linux user trying out Windows 7....
    I was wondering if anybody know of any good free multitrack recorders for windows???
    I use Ardour2 in linux, which is also on Mac, but its not on windows.... Seems as though the good ones in Windows like Cakewalk sonar, pro tools, Ntrack etc etc are all expensive and Im not really wanting to crack software......

    Does anybody know of any good multitrack recorders compareable to Ardour2??? I know there is Audacity, but its not professional in my opinion... just a toy... Ardour2 is very professional... im spewin its not on windows.....

    any help appreciated....

    ps i found a couple odd multitrack recorders for windows, but they are sooo old now that they are not in development anymore......

    Hello kraddy, Welcome to SevenFourms!

    I recommend Audacity. I know you do not think it is professional, but you will be surprised how much functionality it has. I mean, how can anyone expect any more features packed into 1 small, free program.

    I use Audacity at my church, where I am in charge of recording and computer systems. It has never given me any problems.

    I have a recording DAW with Sonar 8.5PE but the free Audacity is a great recording program if you don't want to buy something.

    Reaper has a free full version demo download. But, if you want this it will cost you $60. REAPER | Audio Production Without Limits

    thanx guys.... but arghhh, they are no comparison for Ardour in linux.... I would of thought
    windows would have way more free alternatives, but nope. hehehehe. ahwell...
    I might just install a Linux compatibility Layer "Cygwin" and try to run ardour..... or I will just use Linux for multitrack recording

I downloaded Audacy and watched a couple of basic tutorials. I learned that you have to aline any additional tracks with the first. I have never had to deal with ALINING in any other recording software. Is there a setting in Audacy that automatically alines the tracks. I am doing head arrangements...
