iTunes 9 not loading on Windows 7 64 bit

I'm trying to run iTunes 9.0.2 for 64 bit on Windows 7 for 64 bit. I have tried several things to try to get iTunes to work on my laptop. I've tried previous versions of iTunes, uninstalling and reinstalling it. Also tried compatibility modes and installing iTunes as an administrator. I've also run check disk on start up. When I check the event log, I get the following message before the error:

I have ITunes (latest version) running OK on my Win 7 64 bit machine. Depending on how long you have been trying, if possible, use the System Restore and restore back to a date PRIOR to first attempting to install ITunes. That will give you a "fresh start" to install it. If several attempts have been made, and it wasn't uninstalled and the PC restarted before trying again, there may be enough corruption that it can't be installed. System Restore won't delete any user data or e-mails but any programs installed or uninstalled will be affected. System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools.

In addition to re-trying the uninstall/reinstall process, you may have to manually uninstall the itunes/ipod/bonjour services (if you haven't done that already).

I have the latest iTunes x64 on my notebook and it runs as expected.

The restore doesn't go back far enough. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times on Saturday.

If you uninstall you need to restart the PC before trying a reinstall. If you just uninstall and reinstall without restarting the PC the original problem can still be there.
