    x86 driver on x64 7?

I have a keyboard piano that I'd like to play on my laptop, but the website only provides a 32 bit version of the driver. When I tried to install, it said I have a 64 bit machine and the driver cannot be installed. I thought 32 bit softwares can be installed on a 64 bit OS. Are drivers NOT softwares?

    Hello,

Unfortunately not. A 64-bit system needs 64-bit drivers.

I see that you have Win7 Pro.

I've not done this, but I believe that you're entitled to install XP in a virtual machine on Win7 Pro (or Ultimate), at no additional charge. That'd be the XP 32 bit version.

It appears to be primarily aimed at supporting businesses that require the continued use of old software, but it may be of interest to you.

I installed an 8 year old Microtek scanner and a ProFilm3600 film scanner also 8+years old. Win7 Pro 64bit said no go but I installed the software anyway and ran the update drivers in device manager(showed unknown device ,drivers not installed). It found the drivers (uknown) and installed them. They run great. They were not 64 bit. So why do they work??
