Why use the older versions? The new version of Systat costs $600. I was happy with the old version.

Why use older versions? The new version of Systat costs $600. The old one did everything I wanted so why should I pay another $600? I tried compatibility mode but so far I have no success.

It's too bad that you don't have Windows 7 Ultimate because it comes with a virtual XP machine that you can install and run all your older software on. This is exactly the kind of problem that XP mode was designed for. I am sorry that the new version costs $600, but if you were going to upgrade your computer, maybe you should have researched that a little bit. You would have to expect to have this problem as XP is 8 yrs old and a lot has changed in the computer world since then. Maybe you can download Virtual Box and run an XP machine in it and some of your older programs will work. If you still have a valid license for XP this would definitely be the way to go, unless you can splurge for the new version. Outlook Express doesn't work, but Mozilla Thunderbird is better, easier and safer and best of all it is free! Have you tried The Gimp for your photo editing? It is free and may replace your Picture It. I know it is hard to change when you have been using the same programs for a long time, but once you get used to the new ones, you will find out that they are better and more powerful and the things you can do with some of today's software is amazing!

I'm no detective, but I think he's unhappy because he paid 1800$ for his software.

sportscout; have you tried r-click on the launch executable and used compatability? Outlook is history.

Compatibility mode did not work with Picture It!, Systat 5, or Quick Basic 4.5 (and of course Outlook Express). The new version of Systat costs $600. Translating programs from QB 4.5 to QB 6.4 turns some of the code into jibberish.
