I'm having the same problem on build build 7000 x64. When I try to re-install Windows Mobile Device Center (64-bit in my case) I get an error message that driver installation failed. Does anyone have a work around for this?

Uup, uninstall and re-install fixed it. That seems to be the way with a lot of tools in seven.

TBH, I have never had ot uninstall and re-install anything in Win7 yet. It either installs or it doesn't....and very very few fall under the doesn't category....

However, glad it worked out for you two.

When one uninstalls WMDC in order to reinstall it, are there drivers or other orts that the uninstall leaves behind, thus preventing a good, solid WMDC REinstall? Should I be searching my registry? Does it make any difference, vis a vis Windows 7, that I upgraded instead of doing a clean install?

Sorry about the ditz factor here, but I can't remember where I posted the details to the following probably solution: I did a Windows Upgrade of Windows 7 two days ago, and, so far, have had zero problems with syncing my iPAQ 211 and my Windows 7 Home Premium desktop. FWIW.
