No spam! is the immediate PLUS! to start off in any case as well as seeing it's own form of filtering for any shared files you intend to pass along if you decided to use the WLM messenger option. That helps in detection of any virus or malwares being spread to your contacts to some extent.

I use The Bat with Antispamsniper for years. It gets all my email from about 15 different accounts. Does a auto backup every three days. I have The Bat on my work computer and my home computer. Have it set to leave email on server (when server gets about filled let The Bat delete all email over 120 days old automatically). I have used Outlook, Outlook Express, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, Gmail, Euroda, Thunderbird and some others over the years. The Bat is a paid software, but I pay because I can set it up for way I want my email to be retrieved and saved.

TBird is quite reliable if you have a regular ISP account where your mail comes into the machine generally through OE, WM, or TBird for 7 presently. When switching over ISPs here however I no longer have anything incoming from the old ISP with the new simply seeing an online account you setup yourself.

With all that I still end up with WLM!

Seeing as we are on the subject of mail programs...
In WLM in W7 is it possible to get WLM to minimize to teh system tray like in vista? I cant seem to find the option anywhere as I like to keep it open but not take up space on the taskbar.

The Live messenger will see an icon placed in the system tray while the WLM itself is the same as having another free online email provider where you can save a link in the IE favorites, favorites bar, or as you would with another browser in the bookmarks or bookmarks bar there.
