    Eraser crashes on every start-up?

    Hey there everyone.

Just installed Windows 7 and Im loving it. Few little kinks, but im gunna work them out. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or if it was just me. I installed Eraser and it says it is compatable with Win7 but it keeps crashing on every start-up or log-on. I dont understand why?

    Thanks everyone,
    Ben

Hmm... I just tested, it doesn't crash for me. Perhaps a reinstall will help.

I have the same problem with Eraser running in Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Installs fine, says its compatible, but I get a failure every time I restart the computer.

    Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling it?

Hey Ben I think I have found a solution-- at least it worked for me and it sounded like you were having the same problem.

I first observed that the error only displayed at system startup but the program continued to work normally. Next I looked at the startup entry in regedit under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and observed that the path to the eraser executable was listed as "C:\PROGRA~1\Eraser\Eraser.exe"

I modified the key so that it now reads:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Eraser\Eraser.exe\" --atRestart"

After restarting my computer, the error message is gone and eraser still works great. I hope this helps!

But i am not as lucky as you are. My eraser actually stops working all together and doesnt responde when i try and open it.
I will keep looking around and report back when i find something.

    Thanks everyone,
    Ben

    Hey everyone,
It was a while for me on this thread, but i wanted to inform you all that i did figure out the problem I was having. I had installed an unstable version of their software (6.?.?) and that was making it crash.. DUH!! Well anyways, i uninstalled, ran a registry cleaner, and installed 5.8.? and now it is working perfectly. Not a problem at all.

    Thanks for the help everyone,
    Ben
