Is this really fixed? I'm really afraid to do it on my own especially about windows updating.

(For Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Should be the same for other versions)
Apparently, you must have Permissions set for 'SYSTEM' in 2 Temp Folders.

    They are:

    C:\Windows\Installer

    AND

    C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Temp

So, try this before you do a complete reinstall windows 7. I actually did a complete reinstall, only to have the same problem again after 2 weeks....I wonder what causes it.

    Anyway, hope I helped.
    It worked for me. Thanks!
I was going to reinstall Windows 7 before.

    hello
I am having this error installing and removing Corel Word Perfect x5

I found the C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Temp folder and all premissions were ok

but I cannot find the C:\Windows\Installer folder
I can open the folder, but as folder, it's not reachable

it should be between the "inf" and "internet Logs" folders... but it's not
(yes, I have "view hidden files & folders")

    any suggestions ?
    thks
