Dont know where this is coming

A leak, that has come from Microsofts shows that Microsofts Windows 8 Is coming 28th June 2011-2012 or so, but why is it coming this soon?, what is the point on spending many hundreds of dollars on a OS youl replace within a year or two?

sorry if this is posted before, then feel free to delete

Okay I'll try to make sense out of your post.

Basically your asking whats the point of paying a couple hundred for an Operating System if theres going to be a new one in a few years?

I can answer this. To have the latest and greatest. No one forces users to upgrade. Their money, they choose what to buy.

I'd rather see Microsoft release new operating systems every 2-3 years rather then every 6-7 years.

Microsoft has publicly stated that they want to release a new desktop OS every 2-3 years. Lots of people stuck with XP, many will stay with Vista and some will end up with Windows 7 due to purchasing a new machine. Just because MS releases something, doesn't mean that you are obligated to using it.

Everyone here would love that if it was released next year (well every one of my friends.. aside from a select few).

I welcome newer OS's. Besides, who cares 'how soon' it comes after the last version. Not like they hold a gun to your head making you pre-order it.

Oh and don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I would not subscribe to that statement. I would prefer they spent more time architecting and designing the systems properly rather than issuing a shoddy new version every 2 or 3 years. That was the way the American automobile industry operated - and see where they are now.

Well, after the very stable 7, making 8 wont be that hard, build on 7, make it quicker, implement quicker and more secure programs etc
