English installs on an english windows still in dutch

I live in belgium and naturally buy my hardware here. I don't, however, like to install my sotware in dutch as it's much easier to solve problems in english.
This means that I install an english windows 7 on my pc and I install english versions of software as wel.

Now, even though I do all this, I still get text in dutch both from the system and from software. For example, some error messages from windows itself are in dutch.

Can anyone explain to me how this is possible and how i can change it? It must have something to do with the hardware but when I install software in english, I expect it to be in English!

I don't think the hardware has anything to do with it. Question is whether you truely installed an English version. If that was an OEM installed Dutch Win7, then it is not part of the 5 language version (En, Fr, Ger, Span, JPN). You need a 5 language version installation disk to get full English. How did you actually install the "English version" - from what source.

Dag njitram, welcome to the forums
I have seen that happening when you upgrade your system from a previous version, in your case in Dutch. Was this a clean install or upgrade?
This MS help addresses a language problem that seems like yours, please take a look and see if this would be your case: Change the display language
What version of Seven do you have? If you have Ultimate and the above doesn't work, you can download the language packages via Windows update. I am not sure there will be an English LIP when your system is already in English, but there are alternate download palces

My windows is a MSDNAA version that I got though my school. I had the choice of a dutch or an english version. Pretty much everything is in english but now and then some dutch pops up.

Wallyinnc, I checked the link you gave me and the only language installed is English.

I have found something that might solve it though. In the system parameters in the advanced section of My computer properties, i added a line "LANG" with the value "en". According to what i found, that sets the system language. The program that was displaying in dutch was Gimp and after changind that variable, it detected an english system automatically. I'll have to see if it solves it for the rest of the software but if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.

Well, I thought i'd let people know my findings. The trick seemed to work for gimp but now I'm installing the new Nvidia drivers and that text is in dutch. I do find this very strange as I downloaded the install in english yet so much of it is in dutch.

If anyone has any more ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea how the wrong language keeps coming up.

EDIT: Found it! In the regional settings, under language settings -> administrative -> non-unicode programs the language was still set to Dutch. They sure don't make it easy...
    This solved it.
