Default Programs Issue with Photoshop (.psd) Files

My HP DV9000 has dual 500GB drives which I have partitioned as follows:

    Bay #1
C: System (145GB, Windows and other essential files)
    D: Security (5GB, ESET, Anti-Spyware)
E: Applications (350GB, all application data not required on the startup drive)

    Bay #2
G: Data (500GB, Personal folder and all data files)

(I do experience a significant performance increase with OS, Applications, and Files on seperate partitions, so no, I wasn't just playing around with Disk Management )

My problem is that I cannot seem to change file associations for Photoshop (.psd) files unless the application is installed on the C:\ drive - I can browse to the Photoshop.exe file in E:\Program Files, but Windows won't recognize it once I click 'OK'.

Anybody got suggestions? Is this a problem with Photoshop or Windows? I'd really prefer to keep all my disk-usage-hungry applications like PS off the system drive if I can.

(I have already tried re-installing PS, no luck)

This is the problem with Photshop, what happens if you give full admin rights to it
