3d studio max freezing in win 7

I've just upgraded to windows 7 and ive just installed 3d studio max 8 back on to my system and as soon as it launches it starts to load the main screen then freezes.
Now ive had no problems when i was running xp but just cant seem to get it running on windows 7.

my rig is:-
athlon x2 2.2ghz
4gb ram
2 * 7800gto 512mb graphics cards in sli
2* 250gb hdd's

ive made sure ive got the latest graphics drivers and that DX is update aswell. any ideas what i could do next?

Why not call up Autodesk and ask them?

They have no support for Windows 7 at this time,

I would try to launch it in Windows XP SP3 Compatibility mode. Right click on the Icon, click on Properties, click on Compatibility, then check Windows XP SP3.

First thing i did was click on the compability mode and set to xp sp3 but no joy im afraid.
