    Java.. new version 6.18

I've been alerted about the newest version of Java.. on the laptop..
I keep hearing Java is difficult to un-install ( old version )..on Windows 7..
shall I try to un-install it.. I need to install the new version.

On XP I would go to the Control Panel and un-install all versions.. and such .
REBOOT.. then come back and install the new version..
Is this still the thing to do ?
I'll wait to hear from you all.
    Thanks in advance.

It is still the same as xp...you can update without fear and uninstall with no probs in the programs.

All you have to do is uninstall the old version from Control Panel-Programs and Features.

The new versions of Java have been changed. Just install the new one and it will remove the old versions.

Hi Jim.. thanks .. I'll do that tomorrow.. Java isn't usually a problem for me.. but I have recently seen others saying things.
Are you in LA ? .. I see the LUS tag...if so I'm just north of you...
    Enjoy a great week.

If someone could clarify that, you don't need to uninstall the old version, then install new version... or if you can just install new, which uninstalls the old for you, then installs new in it's place..

    Thanks.

I clarify that, as I have been updating Java over and over without having to uninstall it first.
