Thank you. First post updated. :)
Hum I don't know if anyone else is having any issues with CC but downloading the latest no leaves me with all my saved cookies deleted and it is becoming a bit tedious to have to save them all again - also the Analyse button takes forever to show up blue to use.
The last few times have been through FileHippo and I don't know if the has anything to do with it but I have to say I don't like mirror sites like that because of the ads and crap that come with it.
Personally I won't be downloading Ccleaner until the Slim version is released in a few days time.
Re: Analyse Button and slow perfomance. Try backing up your winapp.ini file (rename it) and download a new one.
You can get it from here: Downloads - Winapp2.com - second to last link on the page.
Edit: Just to be clear - winapp.ini is default in Ccleaner. winapp2.ini is not default and contains extra cleaners.
If you've replaced the default winapp.ini file with the winapp2.ini file them you probably need to trim it! You can also just trim the winapp.ini file.
Re: Cookies deleted. Downloading a new version shouldn't delete cookies. Running a new version might delete cookies if it replaced the existing ccleaner.ini file when installed. Suggest backing up this file before downloading new versions of Ccleaner and copying it back into C:\Program Files\CCleaner directory before running any new version then your original cookies to keep settings will be preserved. Also suggest backing up winapp.ini to preserve settings for the software that is cleaned.
Try viewing both files by opening them with your text editor. You can see that if you loose/ rplace either of those files then any settings will be lost.

Thanks Callender I'll do that strange thing is it only does this on my main laptop the other machines all download and install without problems.
The thing with the cookies was also odd because it loaded the CCleaner and after the Analyse the only cookies I had were ones that you get when you first install CCleaner. This nuisance with sites that are passworded and means I have to login again to get it right.
In future I will wait for the new version to be called in the forum as currently it pops up a message that a new one is available and it invariably goes via Filehippo which I said before I don't really like that much (or mirror sites in general).
PS I just Googled CCleaner Slim and there are downloads available at the majority of the mirror sites I really don't like but Piriform had this via the Google and I don't know if it is the Slim or not https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
Well as far as I know Ccleaner is supposed to check to see if those files exist when a new build is installed and usually it keeps those files and remembers settings. Sounds like it's overwriting them instead for some reason. If you backup those two files to another folder on your desktop you should be able to compare the files from before and after a CCleaner install.
Look I think something odd id going on in the machine as those cookies have not ben saved. I might just uninstall CCleaner and try that new link as the Analayse button is still not a dark blue when I open it.
I saved the ini stuff to desktop in any case but there are only a few cookies that I think will be saved.
Here's an example of what slows Ccleaner down. Attached is a folder containing two files. One is the full winapp file and the other is trimmed. If you look at the contents of each you can see all the additional cleaning routines that Ccleaner has to check through when the analyse button is clicked when using the full file. Compare with the contents of the trimmed file and note the file size.
Winapp.zip
Note: these files are for my machine.
Re: Ccleaner Slim.
It only gets released a few days after the main version so if you want it you have to wait. It should be available in the next few days or so.
When available the download link (direct) is: hxxps://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim/downloadfile
Edit: It also appears here in the list of downloads when it's available:
CCleaner - Builds
The versions on software download sites only get updated once they're released hence the current version of Ccleaner Slim listed on MajorGeeks is still the old version. If you set Ccleaner to auto-update it downloads and installs the Regular build over the Slim build. I always manualy update.

I uninstalled CC from the machine then installed it from that site - CCleaner - builds and it is faster although there was much browsing or anything else done in the meantime see pics
Okay you can try this. Backup those .ini files and then in the Program Files\Ccleaner directory then open winapp.ini in your text editor and scroll down the list of entries and manually delete any entries for software that you don't have installed. Save the winapp.ini file in the same location in Program Files\Ccleaner (overwrite the old one)
Launch Ccleaner64.exe and head to Options > Advanced. Select "Save all settings to .ini file" and select the checkboxes for what you want to clean. On the Options tab sort out your cookies.
Go back to the Cleaner Tab and make your selections for Windows and Applications.
It should now anaylyse and clean very fast. If it doesn't - perhaps an application is creating a huge amount of files that need to be cleaned. Someone in another thread was getting a huge Chrome cache every browsing session.
Note: If you're seeing a winapp2.ini file (extended list of cleaners) then it could slow Ccleaner significantly. There's a couple of ways to trim it automatically if needed.
