Why don't settings save in WordPad?

I love the new look of WordPad, they finally made the program look like it's for a current generation PC. A big problem to me, though, is that I have to manually change the line spacing and check off the 'add 10pt spacing after paragraphs' EVERY single time I open up the program. I don't like this at all, Word keeps your paragraph settings - even the old WordPad did right? Is there a way to keep my paragraph settings saved so when I open it up I don't have to do all of that every time?

Even after intensive examination I could not find any default settings. I guess they did not want it to compete with Word.

Which doesn't make any sense, it's such a simple but yet important feature.

My guess would be that this was a marketing consideration. Not everything that makes sense makes money.

    Think I see a pun lurking. :)

I just created a blank document with the "add 10pt spacing..." option turned off and the line spacing, font, font size, etc., all set the way I want them and saved it to my desktop as "WordPad". Now, instead of using the WordPad program shortcut, I just open that blank document and everything is set the way I want it.
