    Spss v16.0

This might be a long shot but does anyone have SPSS V16.0 installed and working on their Windows 7 machine?

    Thanks in advance.

There is a version 17, maybe try that?
It does however appear to be a pretty old piece of software so wouldn't be surprised if it does not work properly.

    hi
in last 24 hours i tried 11.5, 13.0, 15.0, 17.0, 17.0.2, 18 but none of these licenced versions do not worked with windows 7 OS. I am so tired and depressed...I need to analyse some data, but my new notebook is not accepting spss (PASW or others)...
I will be also glad to hear a solution for this bothering situation
By the way new version is published on 2009 so it is not an old piece of software...
    thanx for attention and helps

    Phoenix,
I toally relate to your issue. I just finished my M.S. using the latest trial version of PASW. I ran it on Win 7 RC with no problem. I even had to switch to PASW since the last trial expired and the version & name changed from SPSS. I panicked but went slow, uninstalled the first trial version, cleaned out any references to the old version, and simply installed the latest PASW trial using the new key I was sent. I think I had to install it a "administrator", don't remeber. I hope this helps.

If you are running Ultimate or Professional you could try installing it using XP mode. If you have Home you could try Sun's VirtualBox to install XP on your Win 7 machine.

    Hi,

Sorry it's a while I checked this post. I actually got SPSS 16 working with Windows 7 (we get this version free via Uni resources), I just ran compability check on it, which suggested running as XP program, sometimes output reverts Aero to Windows 7 basic but I can live with that. Having said that, I have only been running one/two way ANOVAs and unplanned comparisons... unsure if other functions may crash the program.

Thank you all for your kind helps and interest
Here is my primitive solution :)
I uninstalled everything about SPSS and reinstall again with running in XP mode. You can see the results as:
11.5 was successfully installed but crashed during the analysis
    13.0 same with 11.5
    15.0 same with 11.5
16.0 successfully installed but massively slow to hold an analysis
17.0 succesfully installed but significantly slow
17.0.2 succesfully installed and great performance (you can find this version via spss.com- free to download and uses the same serial and auth.code)

As i indicated before this is a really primitive way to solve a problem. I hope nobody suffers again...

SPSS 15.0 will work with Win7

I spent the day fighting with SPSS 15.0.1 to work with Win 7. I finally completed activation (after calling to get a new activation code) and a full analysis. I know SPSS swears up and down that it will not work with Win 7 unless you upgrade to 18 or 19, but it WILL work.
Once you have installed SPSS (but likely not activated it... you can try and see if it will work):
Pin the program to your Start Menu. Right click on the program icon for SPSS.
    Go to Properties.
    Go to the Compatibility tab.
Click the first box, which is "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select your old operating system. I used XP version 3 as my choice, and it worked great.
THEN, you can open SPSS, go to help, and run the Activation helper program.
    Suddenly everything works just fine.

SPSS v17 and v15 work with Windows 7

SPSS customer service and technical support is the worst among all hardware and software companies I have contacted. They will never tell you a solution, instead, they will kind of force you to upgrade to a version just one year newer.

When I called SPSS support for the issue I had with SPSS 17 and Windows 7, they switched my call to sales right away with even trying to listen to the complain.

I had to praise the sales for trying so hard to force me upgrade my v17 to v18. When she failed to get me open my pocket, she hanged up on me.

Thank you for the posts here that help solve my problem. Now I even get my SPSS v15 to work with my Windows 7!

SPSS tech support and customer service SUCK!!!!! I wish I had recorded the conversation and post it to YouTube!

I have tried to use the patch developed to make the student versions of SPSS 16 work on windows 7, for my 'normal' version of SPSS 16 and it seems to work. no abnormally slow performance and weird files etc.

install spss 16, don't open it
    download the patch here
    SPSS 16.0.1.2 Windows Patch
and copy the files spss.exe and spss.com to the folder where you installed spss, such that the original files are overwritten.

now start spss 16; it should work fine
    good luck.
