Windows 7: Program Menu Organizer

Program Menu Organizer

Under XP I used to re-organize my programs menu (Start/All Programs) into categories such as "Multimedia", "Programming", "Electronics", "Utilities" etc. This made it far easier to find programs on the rare occasions I needed to launch them directly...

Is there a tool (preferably free) that will allow me to reorder the Win7 Programs menu in a similar fashion?

Do it manually. On my PC, i keep all the links under AllUsers, leaving only empty Administrative Tools and StartUp in the User folder.

For dealing with odd behaving folders (MS Office, Adobe et al), I will set the default folder property to hidden and copy (not move) the offending content to to my preferred location.

And to answer your exact question, Vista Start Menu Pro.

Open the Start Menu by clicking it.

Right click All Programs

Open - current user profile

Open All users - all users profile

Thank you. I'm still thinking XP, I guess... I was clicking the start button on the taskbar and not seeing the usual links. Never thought to right click the programs menu link.

This program does a reasonable job of automating it:
