I have managed to delete a vast amount of data from my pc(460GB) and need it back, does anyone have any experience with recovery software? if so which would you suggest. (I didnt read the warning saying too big for the recycle bin perm delete).

    Thanks.

    Hello,

A good free program many have had success with is Diskdigger. A paid program I have had good luck with is Kernel Data Recovery.

    Hope this helps,

Obviously, don't write anything further to that drive.

You might try to make an image of it before you attempt recovery. That might help at a later date. Put the image on some other drive.

I probably would not defragment it either.

Problem is, there are dozens of programs out there that are supposed to help with this. I have often wondered if using a program that doesn't help makes it more difficult for the next program you try.

I'd try to do as much research as possible on the proper program before even trying the first one.

For what it is worth, I have heard decent things about Getdataback.

Not many software are available in the market to recover such a huge data but on researching I found out stellar phoenix which claims to recover data up to 1 terabyte, you can try it. Its tested under extreme conditions and they say that it is quite useful software. As per my research on the software I also recovered a huge amount of data but as your data is too heavy recovering of the data might take longer but the data will get recovered that for sure, this is what I experienced. try it and share the experience you had with the data recovery software for windows works for you.

If you can afford it, Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 is awesome. I now own it, and it works flawlessly. I don't trust Windows native programs one bit. Sorry Microsoft.

Besides that, if your system get's corrupted, your best bet is with a stand alone third party application, not a Windows application.
