    Daemon Tools setup problems...

    I tried installing daemon tools on Win7 7077 64bit and when it asks to restart I do but once it reboots it starts the whole setup again and doesn't continue from where it was when it asked to restart to finish the install.

    DT free is using the old SPTD 1.56 - if you go to their website you'll see that the Pro and Advanced versions have a newer SPTD driver, 1.58, that is supposed to work with Win7 - but I tried using the SPTD 1.58 and then installing DT Free and it still did not work effectively for me, and in fact, it caused me to format and reinstall build 7077 from scratch (previously I had upgraded from 7068).

    You can try what I tried, but be prepared in case it starts hosing your system....

    Except for all the protection bypasses, Virtual Clone Drive (available from http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html (v5.4.2.5) or from http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail...e/1224002998/1 (v5.4.2.8 Beta)) works like a champ - I am using the Beta 5428 and it rocks....

    I got Daemon tools working fine. Here's what I did:
    Get the SPTD x64 1.58 driver here. Install and restart.
    Then download DT lite, install. After that it's gonna "update virtual devices" which took like 10 minutes for me. Just let it finish and you should be fine.

    haven't had any problems installing the new version.
    Either you install the new pro version, deinstall daemon tools after the installation and install an older version (yeah it sounds stupid but it works),
    or you download the SPDT 1.58 seperatly and install an older daemon tools lite version after it.
    you might need the troubleshoot compatibility mode to add more admin rights.

    When you install Daemon Tools, it needs to restart your computer, as you know. When you restart, it can't install because it doesn't have the Administrative Privileges. He wants to how to get it to start with the correct privileges so it can install.

    I did this same thing a long time ago and just gave up, burnt whatever it was I needed to a CD and went from there. I found it much easier than going through all the trouble.

    you don't get it.

    There is a new version of SPTD (Version 1.58) Download here: DuplexSecure - Downloads
    Install new SPTD and restart your PC.

    Download Daemon Tools Lite v 4.30.3 and install Daemon Tools.

    If you would read a bit on the official daemontools homepage you could read:
    DAEMON Tools Pro Version 4.30.0305 is released
    What's new in this version:
    Image Editor;
    Windows 7 beta supporting (SPTD 1.58);
    and if you take a look at those screenshots here Windows 7 Blog | Daemon Tools unterstützt Windows 7
    you can see it works

    I tried it last time when I had upgraded from 7068 to 7077 *and* I had Virtual Clone Drive installed and it gave me fits - it ran but was excruciatingly slow, and when loading a BD it sat there forever loading....locked the system up, although I did not wait longer than about 2 minutes.

    I may give this a shot again, but I am wondering about the 64bit compatibility, and also wondering if VCD was also causing it fits....
