Problem of installing 32 bit software to Win7 64 bit

I want to install a copy of 32 bit software to the location "Program files" instead of the default folder "Program files (X86)". I already changed the default location to "Program files" during I ran the setup, but it did not work. The software was still installed to "Program files (X86). Please advise!!

The "Program Files" folder is specifically for 64 bit programs, if I'm not mistaken. If I don't want something in the Program Files folder, I have a folder just named "Programs" that I install to, rather than Program Files (x86).

Windows has no problem with that.

Melon is correct, "program files" is x64 only. Hence the "x86" at the end of the other folder.

    What issue are you having?

What I want is to install a 32bit software to the 64bit folder, i.e. "Program files".

    Can I do that?
