    Notepad Displaying Odd Characters?

    Hello.
I am attempting to edit an SFF file of a program (M.U.G.E.N.). When I try to do this through Notepad or any other word processing program, weird characters are displayed.
    Here's a screen-shot:

Someone told me it has something to do with my "language packs", but that makes no sense to me since the typed language in the document I need to edit is in English.

If someone could point me into the fix for this error, that would be great.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, if you need to know anything else about my system, ask.

    Hi
SFF files are graphic files commonly used in the gaming industry. What you are seeing is not "odd characters" but the coding of a graphic file. You will see the same thing if you open a jpeg in Notepad or any text editor. Unless you are a coder it will be all gobbledegook.
You need something like "XnView" to open the file even then I think you may have to convert it to something like a bitmap image first. Frankly unless you really know what you are doing it might be best to leave it alone. If you do go further to experiment make sure you copy the file to another safe place and don't try to edit the file "in situ". That could wreck the game if you go wrong and with this type of coding you don't know if you have gone wrong until it is too late.
To coin the phrase "If it aint broke etc etc"
    Hope this helps a bit
