    DO NOT.

I hate to say but DO NOT get Camstudio for your need. It is a bit buggy now on windows 7. Say if you are recording. You stop. Then make another one right after wards it would not stop and then i exited out and my whole screen flashed pretty colors. Please do not get it. It will bug your PC. I joined this site just to tell you this. I won't be on this site as much for i have 2 other forum sites i have an account on. Hope this helps.

    Utility Spotlight: Screenrecorder

Screenrecorder is a very easy-to-use screen-to-video capture program, developed on top of Windows Media Encoder, that lets you easily capture what is going on to a small video file, which you can then send via e-mail to the appropriate person. That person can then watch the video just as if he is sitting next to you and you are showing him what's is happening on the screen.
Nifty application, might be usefull - thanks!!

You are all forgeting that windows 7 comes with its own screen recording software built in. Start > run > PSR (Problem Steps Recorder).

    Win 7 PSR

I didn't forget about it, I just think it is very basic. I make a lot of instruction sets for users so I usually need something more robust.

No no that app is great for stills, but not for video with voice over.

Well, I have to agree that Camstudio and Fraps are the two best screen recorders out there. If you have the money (or a certain website) to get Fraps, it's very helpful for DirectX and OpenGL rendered windows...like games, movies...etc. Records that render window perfectly, in my opinion. Camstudio, I use for anything that isn't rendered, and it does a damn good job of doing so. So...in my opinion, Fraps & Camstudio are the ones you want to go with.
