Camtasia studio is pretty awesome, really.
Record all or a portion of your screen, allows you to record audio and to show a circle when you click with the mouse, etc.

Great for recording presentations or demonstrations

I guess, Screen VidShot must be what you are looking for :) This is what I usually use for creating tutorials (those are 50% of my job)

Mate, IMO, Fraps is the best it gets, great for recording games in fullscreen in high quality, only one downside, HQ = Huge file, other then that, it just sits in the taskbar until you need it :)

I agree with you, Fraps is great for recording games:)
But you don't need HQ-video for tutorials, so I guess paying 50$ for Fraps isn't worth it in this case

    Utility Spotlight: Screenrecorder

Screenrecorder is a very easy-to-use screen-to-video capture program, developed on top of Windows Media Encoder, that lets you easily capture what is going on to a small video file, which you can then send via e-mail to the appropriate person. That person can then watch the video just as if he is sitting next to you and you are showing him what's is happening on the screen.
