cant connect to Youtube from Everio Mediabrowser

I use Everio Mediabrowser to download my JVC videos. I can upload directly to You Tube on it but since I started using W7 (64 bit home) I get an error it cannot connect to Internet.

It works fine on my other laptop that runs XP so I'm thinking it is a W7 issue not my software.

I had this same problem when I loaded my tax software on my laptop with W7 - when I tried to go directly to register the software it would not connect to the Internet.

I have no other problems connecting ,
Can anyone suggest what is blocking this connection that I can change?
    Thanks

If you have a firewall running, it may be blocking those programs from accessing the internet. You need to add exceptions for those programs in the firewall.

not sure what you mean? I did check the Windows Firewall (didn't know it was there) and selected the software for it to allow but it still will not connect to Internet in the software. I am positive it is a W7 issue as it works perfectly in XP. This is new software bought at Christmas so not outdated.
