Unable To Sync iPhone With Itunes + Win 7 64bit

    Hi guys.

I posted the following over at apple forums and didn't get a single response.

Hope maybe someone knows something about this.

    Message follows...

I got a new laptop at Xmas 09. It's a Dell Studio 1555 with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.

Ever since then I cannot sync my iPhone. It worked fine with Vista.

I downloaded and installed various versions of iTunes including the 64 bit version that SHOULD have worked. It doesn't.

It recognizes it. It even says 'sync in progress' but this only lasts 2 seconds before it says 'sync complete'. Of course it didn't sync at all and my library is unchanged.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help

    Hi Walker,

I updated my specs. That's all it says in system properties. If you need any more could you tell me where to locate it?

    Thanks

Type "dxdiag" in your Start menu search field and hit Enter. Click "Yes" at the first Window, then browse the tabs for the necessary information.

Thanks for filling that out. This article describes a BIOS update released in November that may solve the issue... presuming you have a Gigabyte mobo and your computer was built before the fix was released.

Let me know if that helps.

    Hi Walker.

I followed the link in that article to here GA-P55-UD4P (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - BIOS

I then downloaded the file and ran it. However, it says that it is incompatible because I need a 64 bit version. I didn't see any options there to choose a 64-bit version.

Hi there, I had the same issue once with my iphone so I just clicked on the restore button and let itunes restore the firmware on your iphone.

    Dinesh, thanks for your input.

After you backed up and restored, did you 'set up as new 'iPhone' or restore from backup.

I restored from backup and I think I just undid the restore. I did this because I thought that was how you got all your apps back.

Should I restore again and set it up as a new iPhone this time around?

    Thanks

Yes setup as a new iphone and then manually sync your apps, music and photos. This way, you'll get everything back and the sync issues will be fixed. I guess it happens due to a corrupt backup stored in itunes.
