    free webdesign software?

I searched here, but didn't find any free software for webdesign.
I only found seamoneky, and netobject fusions to be free. but neither is any satisfactory or an alternative to Dreamweaver.

Any other ideas? Ideally something with some good functions, but not as invovled as dreamweaver.

this doesn't really answer my question for a free software, but I just found that DreamSpark offers some MS software free for students. Among others Expression Studio, which kind of is like Dreamweaver. Good i found this now, sine I will graduate in 3 weeks. They have a list of universities and you need to sign in with the university email address.

And I almost purchased this or Dreamweaver with student discount. Being free, made the choice easy and the discount bigger. I also downloaded Server 2008... who knows what that will be good for...

I know this a bit off topic but when your trying to find alternatives to paid (or any)software (eg Microsoft Office, Photoshop, iTunes). There is a really good website called AlternativeTo.net-Alternatives to Windows, Mac, Linux and online software

thanks for all your hints. I downloaded sharepoint, but wonder if it is better than Expression Studio (which is free to me too)? I'm more a WISIWYG guy. I guess if one can code HTML and CSS one wouldn't need more than notepad.

Is sharepoint a little outdated, being from 2007 (and it being free as opposed to normally having to pay for ExpressionStudiou, which is from 2010 with SP2) would indicate that you get what you pay for.

Sharepoint looks bit like Frontpage. The MS video talked about its strengths in sharing with team members. I probably will work on it on my own forever, so this is not needed. Some website mentioned Sharepoint and Expression Studio complement each other. Grrr... confused.

As student I also can get Dreamweaver for about $ 120 and want to look into CS5.

One thing with all the software I don't understand is, that they make so many different ones in one company. From Adobe, there is dreamweaver, some flash software, some indesign... it all i needed for websites. It really is hard to learn a new software when one needs to learn 3.

I've been doing some sites with Dreamweaver (personal, for the home owners association) but do think it is a bit overwhelming and clunky. but whichever way i progress too, it will require some learning time and I want to invest my time in the best one.
