    Having trouble installing programs

HI. I've just gotten a new computer and it has windows 7. I've been having a lot of problems loading the programs that worked fine on my old computer such as, Paint shop pro x, AVG virus protection, and more, well I figured i should focus on one at a time.
So I'm confused about AVG it supposedly is supposed to be able to run on Windows 7 yet,the last time i tried to install AVG my computer crashed. AND then unistalled and things worked fine. I reinstalled it and crash again!
I am also having problems with about four other programs.
I'm not sure why WIndows 7 seems to have such a hard time instaling some of these programs. I am running them as administrator ,I dont' know if there is someting else I can do. I know programs like Paint shop pro X are older and require some fiddling around to work with Windows 7, but some of these are said to work with Windows 7 so I don't get it.
    Any suggestions?
Oh and when I signed up to this forum they had me fill out all of my specs, so i'm not sure if they are going to show at the end of this post or not...if they don't and you need them let me know.thanks.

He shouldnt need compatibility mode for the latest software. There is something else more fundamental causing this issue.

@babu357 are there any errors or blue screens that pop up while trying to install these programs? Have you been able to install any programs without error?
