Take a look at this:
Error: 0xc000007b for downloads - Vista Forums
Well Like I said I don't have a virus, I just did a fresh install of windows.
If you can still get into the system.,..
Uninstall 3DMax and see if the error goes away.
If it does, then something with the install is causing the issue.
If it doesn't, then something with the install broke something with the OS
Unfortunately, that error is a really vague error and applies to even more things than the above article mentions.
You can get that error, from any number of problems and it can make it very hard to track down.
I would try uninstalling and reinstalling. Then if that doesn't work, nuke and Reload then try installing again.
If it still doesn't work, then it could be the version of 3D Max you have is not compatible.
Or the installation is broken or something.
It is unfortunately, not a straight forward error message and unrelated problems can cause this error to pop.
You might, just to be sure,,, run virus scans, and Hardware Scans.
I have had this happen several times. Typically what I found is the WRONG driver was loaded. Even if you think you downloaded the correct driver it may not be. I have had links on vendor's web sites say it is Windows 7 but the driver really is Windows XP. Make sure you have the absolute correct driver, and then completely remove the old one; you will need to delete the files manually. Then install the new drivers.
