    How do I view an old .chm help file in Windows 7?

    1. Right-click on your .CHM file
    2. Click on the General tab
    3. Go down and click on UNBLOCK, APPLY and OK
    4. Now you can open the document.

    .chm help files opens and then closes


    Hello to all, my particular problem is a little different from this in that the .chm file opens up and immediately closes. Can someone help me out with this? My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.

    You are always better to start a new thread rather then resurrect an older one, but let's see if we can help you here.

    I would start by making sure that the correct file association is set for .chm files

    Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Scroll down to .chm

    If no help, I would run the System File Checker

    SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    See if either of those help.
