gimp2.6 problem

I can't seem to get gimp2.6 running on my 7100 build. Anyone have any issues with it?

edit: nevermind, first boot takes like 5 mins, and shows "not responding". But it'll load normally after that.

Not being mean, however, why are you using Gimp?

Wait, I hear something in the distance...

Paint.NET...Photoshop...SplashUp...

Funny how the three names I heard are better than GIMP

Wanted something light and little better than paint. It's for my netboook so I don't want to toss ultrahuge PS on there.

I'll check out paint.net and splash up though.

Yeah, Photoshop is a resource hog. My craptop runs it smoothly though, so I can't complain.

And yes, GIMP does that on first-time startup. It's the fonts that take forever.

There is a better startup than Gimp, give this one a try (like Gimp it is FREE), Faststone at www.faststone.com. It works as both an editor and thumbnail viewer. And, yes as a professional photographer I do you use Photoshop, but also Lightroom, Corel PhotoPaint, Faststone (good on my laptop in the field, and it has support for RAW format) along with ACDSee Pro, and Canvas 11.1.
