    CD burning software

If I want to burn CD's by making exact copies of them (i.e. audio CD's) and I want to use the software for disk copy purposes, what is the best FREE Windows 7 compatible CD burning software out there?

+1 for Imgburn. It's simple to use, and especially for your specific task. A Guy

    Hi there

IMAGEBURN is fine as others have pointed out.

I'd suggest in addition that instead of burning to physical CD's you burn to an IMAGE ISO (or NERO NRG) type of file.

Then use ALCOHOL 52 FREE edition to mount the CD (also works for DVD images BTW) and play your music that way.

I've saved loads of CD images to an external usb HDD drive. It's much easier than messing around with physical drives and you can convert the CD very quickly to MP3 format for transferring to portable music players.

(I do the same with DVD's so when I'm away I can take the whole equivalent of a shedload of physical DVD's stored on a small external 500GB USB disk. In these days when you are restricted to how much luggage you can take on a plane these types of solutions IMO are better than messing around any more with PHYSICAL CD's and DVD's).

Incidentally I also store most of my music as FLAC but using NERO with the mega plugin pack I can create my OWN CD compilations too.

I use a music server which can stream FLAC files to remote players at HIGH quality too.

Ripped originally from CD's using Winamp so most of the track details are already tagged so my new "custom" CD will also have most of the tracks already tagged.

The days of "physical CD / DVD media" I think are numbered but its still nice to store the music in the original albums it came in.

    Cheers
